      This year, Grace Morgan is serving as Co-Chair of the 2009 Milwaukee Habitat Women Build.  Part of her responsibility is to help raise the $60,000 needed to help cover the construction costs to build each of the Habitat homes.  Homeowners make their down payments in sweat equity, but make monthly mortgage payments just like the rest of us who own homes.  There is still time to contribute!

TOSA COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Tosa Community Food Pantry.  The serious economic problems have resulted in more families than ever making use of the pantry and we have found it challenging to keep the shelves filled.  Your generosity enables us to help all of the families who turn to the pantry for food and with your support; we hope to continue to provide food to these families during the coming summer when children are out of school.  In addition to food, there is another need at the pantry.  We have a short supply of the large paper grocery bags in which we distribute food.  If any one has surplus bags to share, they can be brought to the pantry during regular pantry hours; Mondays, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and Saturdays, 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Thank you for your help

BAPTIST PEACE FELLOWSHIP   “Arms for the Poor” will be shown at First  Baptist Church, Waukesha on Friday, March 20th The evening begins with a potluck supper at 6:00 p.m. and the program will begin at 6:45 p.m.  This film exposes the present-day influence of the military-industrial complex that President Eisenhower cautioned about when he left office.  “Arms for the Poor” goes beyond politics and economics to ask whether the arms trade might be killing America’s national soul.   While the poor need housing, education and health care, U.S. taxpayers support an immense military budget that is growing larger day by day.  The Peace Fellowship of First Baptist Church, Waukesha, sponsors this program.   Everyone is invited to attend.  First Baptist is located at the corner of Wisconsin and Grand in downtown Waukesha. Please contact Sandra Cope at 262-549-9711 for more information.

RUMMAGE SALE HEADS UP       This year’s rummage sale will be Saturday, May 2nd from 8 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  That’s less than seven weeks away, folks!  It’s time to think about how you can help besides bringing in items for sale.  Rummage items can be brought in and placed on the stage of Fellowship Hall (behind the curtain) any time until Wednesday, April 29th.  As in the past years, no clothing, please.  We may have an area for children’s clothing and toys like last year, but that is still being decided.  Please sign up for when you can work and what you can bring for the Bake Sale.  We will work three evenings (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) before the sale in addition to every day that week. The sign-up sheets are on the sofa table in the Fireside Room.  Let’s plan ahead!

PUT PEACE INTO EACH OTHERS HANDS

Put peace into each other’s hands and like a treasure hold it,

protect it like a candle-flame, with tenderness enfold it.

Put peace into each other’s hands with loving expectation;

be gentle in your words and ways, in touch with God’s creation.

Put peace into each other’s hands like bread we break for sharing;

look people warmly in the eye; our life is meant for caring.

As at communion, shape your hands into a waiting cradle;

the gift of Christ receive, revere, united round the table.

Put Christ into each other’s hands, he is love’s deepest measure;

in love make peace, give peace a chance and share it like a treasure.
