Underwood Beliefs    Underwood Consitution

This page contains information about Underwood, our beliefs, our constitution and our bylaws.

Bedrock Beliefs of Underwood Baptist

  • We believe that experiencing, celebrating and proclaiming the unconditional love of God through Jesus Christ is the center of all we do.

  • We believe that every person is valuable to God and to God’s Kingdom just as they are, without regard to age, race, culture, sexual orientation (straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender), or background.

  • We believe that God has given every person spiritual gifts that are designed to be used for others.

  • We believe we are accountable only to God for our religious beliefs and practices.

  • We believe that every Christian’s role is to fulfill the Great Commission and that the most effective evangelism happens through people inviting people to receive salvation and follow Christ.

  • We believe in relevant Biblical teaching that transforms lives and in every person’s right and duty to interpret scripture under  the guidance of the Holy Spirit within the community of believers.

  • We believe that each local congregation is an independent unit, democratically functioning in cooperation with other congregations and bodies.

  • We believe in the separation of Church and State maintaining that there must be no coercion of any church by the state and no coercion of the state by the church.

  • We believe our worship must be diverse, vital, inspiring, alive and relevant to people’s lives.

  • We believe that ministry and mission take priority over land and buildings.

  • We believe that “doing church as a team” is God’s design for effective ministry.

  • We believe in becoming fully devoted followers of Christ Jesus through becoming a community of small groups.

  • We believe that God appreciates our best efforts.

  • We believe that all members and associates of this congregation are ministers.
