Valentine's Day Rally to oppose Wisconsin ban on civil unions and same-sex marriage  (February, 2005)

Faith and community leaders, gay and straight couples and Wisconsinites from all walks of life met Valentine’s Day to oppose the proposed constitutional ban on civil unions and same sex marriage from the “No on the Amendment” Coalition.

State legislators are preparing to resume debate on a constitutional amendment that will threaten Milwaukee’s domestic partner registry. Couples use the registry to gain access to health insurance and other protection for their families at participating employers, such as SBC, Wells Fargo and the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Rally participants included Pastor David Dragseth of Lake Park Lutheran, Rev. Jamie Washam of Underwood Memorial Baptist Church, County Supervisors Peggy West and Marina Dimitrijevic and the first couple to register with Milwaukee’s domestic partner registry in 1999.
